With continued innovations in technology, we see more and more smart appliances being developed with the aim of improving further the comfort of homes around the world. And we are not merely talking about LED or LCD televisions here. There are promising new appliances that hope to save you time and money, and assist in making home life a little bit easier at least. Here are three of them.
Smarter Washing Machines to do your laundry
Perhaps you have wished for your washing machine to be able to fix itself, or at least diagnose itself for technical problems and concerns. Then you are in luck as LG introduces its expanded Smart ThinQ product line to include its latest line of washing machines. The latest washing machine models are now equipped with LG’s Smart Diagnosis software which will alert you to technical issues encountered by the machine and allow you to run diagnosis on the appliance even without the presence of a technician.
These new washing machines are also installed with Smart Adapt technology which you may use to “download” new wash cycles based on the changes in your laundry needs. An example of which is the “Baby Sanitize” cycle, useful when a new little one is added to the family. And with the Smart Access feature, you can turn your washing machine off remotely (but you cannot remotely turn it on due to safety reasons). These latest models are also smart-grid ready to help you save money.
Save on Electricity through Wirelessly-controlled Lighting
According to GreenWave, about 25 percent of energy used at home is consumed by lighting. One easy solution to cut these costs is through smart management using their New Energy Star certified LED bulbs. These light bulbs have built in Internet Connectivity that works seamlessly with you smart phone, laptop, tablet, and even your television if it has Internet capabilities as well. Using GreenWave’s application software, you can remotely turn these lights on and off in your home, adjust the color of the lighting based on the time of the day, and program them to adapt to motion sensors or outdoor light levels.
Monitor your health at the comfort of your own home
The ability to monitor your own health or that of a loved one without having to see a doctor, even if it simply means watching or keeping tabs on vital signs, is without a doubt a real time saver, not to mention a worry-reducer. Bosch offers a Health Buddy device that gives health care providers the ability to remotely keep track of the most crucial patient vital signs and statistics using a user-friendly device and simple-to-navigate desktop application.
A wide range of conditions including post-discharge recovery and chronic illnesses are covered by the health management programs available. Vital sign monitoring may be coupled with symptom review, and information may be transmitted to the health care providers many times a day.
